      Communications Manager Interview

      26 Jun 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Philadelphia, PA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Work for Progress (Philadelphia, PA) in Jun 2019

      Interview

After applying, I was asked to take a 2-hour writing test, which included listing my salary requirements. After the test, I was scheduled for a 45-minute phone interview. Salary was not discussed prior to this point, but the job listing states "Target annual compensation for this position is commensurate with the relevant professional experience and/or advanced degrees that a candidate has. U.S. PIRG offers a competitive benefits package" and the number I had was well within standard ranges for my level of experience. At the end of the 45-minute phone interview, which went great, the interviewer, who acknowledged they didn't read my writing test, said the position would pay 10-20K below the minimum I had previously asked for. I asked if that was flexible and they said they would check and let me know within 3 days. 2.5 weeks later, I received an email telling me I would not be offered a position, with no specific explanation, and no apology for wasting my time on a written test or phone interview for a position with a salary far below what I could possibly accept, or for falsely implying they might meet my salary request but never following up. Don't waste your time.
