      WebDev QA Interview

      25 Mar 2013
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Workiva

      Interview

A friend recommended that I submit my résumé to WebFilings and apply for a position on the Quality Assurance staff. Within a week of submitting my information, a reply was received with an offer to interview, asking what day would work for me. My contact was very friendly and always replied promptly to any messages that I had with questions about what materials I needed to bring, et al. The interview process itself was different from most that I’ve been through prior. After signing in at the front desk, I was guided to a conference room where the interview would take place, at which time their process of applicant evaluation was explained to me—each QA department head would interview me for about 30 minutes to evaluate my abilities and make a group decision on how and where I could fit in with WebFilings. Each department leader had good questions, asking everything from my background to if I was familiar with the company and what they do and each person had a different question to be solved; questions such as what would I do if a brand new toaster was placed in front of me, how would I determine which of 5 objects was the heaviest if a scale could only be used twice and others that aren’t checking to see if someone knows all the answers, but how the interviewee troubleshoots a problem. All interviewers were friendly and made an effort to get to know me as a person to make sure that I would fit in with the rest of the staff—to WebFilings, this is almost equally-weighted with how knowledgable you are. After the interview process, the QA department head gave a tour of the building, made introductions and stated they would be in touch soon. It was only a few days after that I received a preliminary job offer, at which point he wanted to know my requested salary. I replied and the formal job offer with my requested salary was given shortly thereafter and we set up a start date. WebFilings was very flexible on the start date, allowing me to give my previous employer a little less than 3 weeks’ notice to finish out that month. Overall, the interviewing process was very unique and fun, despite being longer than others, because of the great consideration for the candidates themselves and not just their knowledge.

      Question 1

As noted before, there were several unexpected questions—such as the toaster one—that were a fun challenge and made the interview with WebFilings very different and engaging.
