I got ghosted by the recruiter. He emailed me and asked for a good time to have a phone screen that day. I told him that I was free all day. He ghosted me after that. I emailed him to check if he received my previous email. He never responded. He conveniently doesn't have a phone number on his email signature. I kept my calendar open all day for that call. Two days later, the job was deleted from the website. The whole situation was very unprofessional. It would have taken 2 minutes for him to shoot back an email and say that position got filled. Employers would rather have unprofessionalism than hire mature worker recruiters who know how to run a desk properly.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Xerox in May 2026
Interview
Prepare for an extended interview process only for them to massively lowball you at the end. I was recruited for this role on a certain popular professional networking platform. Despite being recruited, Xerox never made any effort to try to sell themselves to me. The person I interviewed with was a great guy, unfortunately he is hamstrung by VPs and Execs that are the very reason Xerox has struggled to come into the 21st Century. The V-level that I had previously interviewed with told me via the hiring manager that I should not bat an eye at that horrible number. For a first year salesperson, base salary definitely matters. Ultimately, I elected not to continue the final and sixth in-person step because I was told on the 5th interview they were going to lowball me with a super low base. Not only that, but I was going to have an a total of a 2 hour commute for a sub-par base. Like I said, they made no effort to try to sell me to join the firm. It is sad that a company as old as Xerox is offering such pitiful comp plans. Then again, it is easy to see why when someone says "Xerox", they may as well be talking about an actual dinosaur. I'll say one other thing, they had some pretty junior people involved in the interview process that probably shouldn't have been. Some of the worst, vague interview questions I've ever been asked in my 17 year professional career.
