Phone interview, set up by a recruiter with the lead software engineer. Except at the last minute he couldn't come so I was instead interviewed by two other software engineers. The technical questions did not seem to reflect where my expertise wheelhouse was. Then I discovered the job was not so much commercial consumer-facing software as interfacing with their proprietary hardware using proprietary code. They seemed desperate for anyone with decent years behind them to join--I mentioned how indifferent I was at learning a new language, my poor answers for the infrsastructure-style questions (as opposed to design patterns or the like) and they still wanted to have a F2F. They were able to answer all the questions about the company I had though, and seemed like stand-up people.
