I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Yelp (San Francisco, CA) in Aug 2013
Interview
Initial call - Just a screening. Easy to nail, just be honest about why you're interested in the position. They want to make sure you can talk on the phone. After all, this is a cold calling position.
Second, they will schedule you to come into their offices to do a three person round of interviews. The managers are nice but be prepared for some role play. This is to test your cold calling skills. They will put you in scenarios where you are the cold caller and they are the SMB owner. Be SURE to listen to their advice. They want to see that you can learn. If you can adequately adapt to their molded vision of the perfect cold caller, you'll get that spot.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Yelp (Austin, TX) in May 2026
Interview
The interview process was pleasant from start to finish. It included a recruiter phone screen, a video call with the sales manager, a role play exercise, and the opportunity to implement the manager’s feedback.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
One question they asked during my interview was what specifically about the role made me feel it was a strong fit for my background and experience.
The interview process with Yelp was a very organized experience. From the first email after I put in my application, to the offer extension call, I always felt well informed and included.
It was a one time interview over video call with a pre call before. One on one with a training manager. Pretty simple not too hard at all. Lasted 30 minutes with questions and role plays.
