I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at a2z Development Center (Irvine, CA) in Oct 2011
Interview
The initial interview setup was as usual. The original scheduled interviewer bailed out 30 minutes before the call. Since I had taken the time off, I opted to continue with an another one. The recruiter took 15mins to setup the new one. The new interviewer had obviously no prep but surprisingly, when I asked him, have you reviewed the resume, he said 'No' and showed no desire to do so.
I guess we started off wrong with his first question, where he wanted me to write down a function and then read it back to him. I was not ready for such a question. Tried giving him the algorithm but kept insisting on the actual syntax. With over 2 decades in the software industry, this sort of verbal coding was new to me. I should've read the code to him from a website!
I lost the interest and the respect for the interview. I consider the experience as the worst interview so far.

Question 1
Implement atoi() and read it back to me over the phone! The interviewer was pretty stubborn in hearing the actual syntax over the phone not the algo nor pseudo code.

Interview
I had 6 individual 45 minute interviews, with very little break due to the recruitment team not being organised.
When I arrived there was no one to meet me or tell me where I should be, so everything ran late.

Interview
Brilliant group of folks. Two phone interviews followed by full-day one-on-one interviews with six people lasting half an hour each. Each interviewer focuses on a specific aspect he is responsible for evaluating. Questions range from behavioral to technical.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at a2z Development Center (San Francisco, CA) in Nov 2011
Interview
After recruiter did the initial screen, i had a phone interview from on the the Sr Mgrs in A2z. After the interview i was asked to fly in to SF for a face to face. Had 6 interviews HR, Site Director, Same Sr Mgr, Developer, Developer and Somebody did a remote interview from their Wear-house. I was interviewing for Amazon Cloud Player team and the interview was pretty easy. Except for the last one. Amazon has this process of somebody from a totally different organization being able to participate . For me it was the person from their Wearhouse who called in remote. The interview was a disaster as his cell phone had poor reception and we both could not hear each other well. But somehow we joked and apologized to each other.
