Even though it was a minimum wage high school/college student position requiring little skills, I expected a professional experience. The managers who interviewed me were nice, asked basic interview questions about myself, and I left not thinking I made a huge impression because I gave what I thought were generic answers. Needless to say, I was hired. However, after observing the managers interview more people and listening to their reactions, I have to admit that they did not take the hiring process as seriously as I think they should have. I would think, as a manager, I would hire the people who made the best impressions and/or the ones who showed excellent potential. Instead, half the time, they would hire people I could barely even say hello to when coming in for a shift without feeling slightly awkward.
