      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at iMarket Solutions in Aug 2013

      Interview

I E-mailed my resume and cover letter to iMarket and received an informal E-mail reply from the president very soon after, requesting a phone interview. I must admit that I was surprised to hear directly from her, as, with every other interview I have had, at least several days have passed between application and initial contact. The brief initial interview consisted of the president, who was interviewing me, asking questions such as, "Tell me about yourself," "Describe your writing style" and "How would you edit a colleague's content?" She moved swiftly, asking no followups. Overall manner was lacking in pleasantries and apparently uninterested in learning any details about me that might distinguish me from other candidates. Potential applicants please note -- iMarket doesn't mention this anywhere in the job description and probably wouldn't have mentioned it unless I asked specifically, but ***this is not a salaried position.*** It is ***hourly.*** Since I seek a salaried position with benefits, I was unhappy to learn that iMarket does not consider such information about the position important enough to put in job ads. Based on the brusqueness of the interviewer and the fact that the job ad did not explicitly state that the position was hourly, I formed an unfavorable impression and withdrew candidacy directly after interview.

      Application

I interviewed at iMarket Solutions (Irvine, CA) in Aug 2013

      Interview

Emailed resume and received email from President, who set up a Skype interview with me. I immediately got the feeling that this was a small, inexperienced operation and she was wanting to add me to a rag-tag stable of writers. What bothered me the most is that she wanted me to take a 3-hour writing test, yet didn't bother to find out if we were close in salary. She also didn't tell me that this is hourly work with no medical or dental benefits. She was about to end the interview, with a test date scheduled, but I started asking questions. When I told her my current salary and started to talk benefits, she cut me off and said that I'd have to adjust my lifestyle if I worked there. Yikes. My resume showed many years of writing experience with large companies. She needs to be looking for writers out of college.
