SGX is hiring a Technical Product Owner (TPO) in our Derivatives domain to drive initiatives from problem definition to production outcome with an evidence-based approach. You'll partner with the Business Owner to translate user problems into measurable product outcomes by shaping scope, providing clarity to engineering teams, making trade-offs, and driving decisions rather than escalating them. You won't write production code, but you'll be technical enough to challenge engineering decisions, prototype with AI agents, and earn the trust of an experienced engineering team.
You'll also help shape how SGX evolves SDLC practice as AI changes how products are delivered.
Job Responsibilities
Product Analysis and Shaping
Develop a deep understanding of the product (e.g., features, user experience, technical architecture, data flows) and contribute to the long-term technology roadmap of the product domain.
Define, with the Business Product Owner, the north-star metric and supporting KPIs that guide product iteration, and partner with engineering and data teams to ensure these metrics are observable.
Produce the artefacts that engineering or vendors needs to act on, whether that's requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria or AI-assisted product specs, by partnering with stakeholders to understand the underlying business problems.
Roadmap and Prioritisation
Co-own the product roadmap with the Business Product Owner, keeping it aligned with company goals, member needs, and regulatory context.
Prioritise features and enhancements based on evidence of user impact, business value, regulatory requirements and technical feasibility.
Stakeholder Management
Communicate product direction, metrics, and progress to internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Build consensus and manage expectations around priorities, trade-offs, and the inherent uncertainty in product work.
Ways of Working
Use AI agentically to accelerate discovery, prototyping, and specification (e.g., generate working mockups, draft technical specs, validate assumptions) before engineering invests time.
Drive continuous discovery through member interviews, prototypes as tests, and usage data analysis.
Make trade-offs explicit (scope vs. timeline, build vs. buy, quick win vs. durable fix) and drive decisions around them.
Challenge the status quo and help shape the product practice and SDLC improvements as they evolve across the engineering and product organisation.
Job Requirements
Experience. 5+ years in product management, product ownership, or engineering roles with significant product responsibility.
Domain expertise. Experience in capital markets infrastructure (exchanges, clearing houses, derivatives, trading platforms) is a strong plus; broader financial services experience is also valued.
Technical fluency. Able to read code, reason about APIs and data flows, evaluate technical trade-offs, and hold your own in architecture discussions with experienced engineers.
AI-native ways of working. Real, hands-on experience using AI agents to prototype, specify, and validate, not just to summarise documents.
Strong product instinct. Sharp at problem framing, ruthless about scope, keen on data-driven decisions, comfortable driving decisions under ambiguity.
Strong communicator. Able to influence and collaborate with diverse teams across business and technology, and across levels of seniority.
Builder mindset. Comfortable working where some product and SDLC practices are still maturing, and happy to adopt and contribute to new ways of working as they emerge.
Comfort with complexity. Experience shipping in regulated, multi-stakeholder environments is a plus.
