Ingrained Accusatory, Childish Culture
Pros
Decent pay out of college Employment without certificate Some good managers Had loads of free time - learned a new hobby lol
Cons
*sigh* where to begin? First of all, lots of bad reviews for the recent layoffs. Started working there before Covid. I was so excited to be working my first job in genetics testing... The culture was toxic then too. Area leads would blame technologists for not hitting certain metrics that were entirely out of our control (90% OF THE PROCESS IS AUTOMATED, HELLO?). Ironically, within the first week, I had to point out to the lead the basic math was wrong on a control range meaning I was getting chewed out for a math mistake THEY made. The LIMS system they used was super bootleg, would bug out regularly and generally made tracking samples harder not easier. It was hilariously disfunctional and PLENTY of techs came and went within months due to the culture of blame the person, not the process (there was huge drama and fallouts due to hiring young, cheap labor, it was too funny). And if you "messed up", it was assumed you were lazy, not paying attention, etc. They tried to bring remote people back in during peak covid because they thought we were being lazy LOL. And that's how they decided who to fire btw - Metrics for turnaround times that were more dependent on your equipment and internet speed than they were your intelligence or skill. No attention paid to all the little things you did to try to help the team. If you didnt flaunt your own greatness, they didn't see it. There was no balance of workload. You would be tossed onto just about any schedule with no shift differential. Before covid, I struggled to fill my day with any work (but the lead would still want me to stay overtime to finish an extraction of 2 samples lol ok). During peak covid, I was swamped. Near the end, we were twiddling our thumbs waiting for the axe to drop. No utilizing your talents or education for anything else. You are a robot that does one thing only. If you actually look at the history of the company (CompanionDx), you'll see it was super shady, was sued by THE GOVERNMENT and went bankrupt and this wonderful zombie was born - same people, same everything. I don't think 20% of the people I worked with in 2019 are there any more. 1.5 years. 80% turnover. Do I need to say anything else? P.s. Oh and 1 year we got $100 Amazon gift cards instead of bonuses LMAO
