Hello I’m Michael, the CEO of the Company. This was an extremely painful review for me to read, obviously. While the discussions I have every single day with people up and down the Company convince me that we have a generally happy and productive team, even one person feeling she or he has been bullied is one too many, and I feel very bad about that. Two years ago, we conducted an acquisition of a new site and team a hundred miles away from our head office, and integrating the team into a business with as fast-paced a culture as Alloyed proved difficult, and we lost a small number of people who found the pace hard. On reflection, I didn’t intervene as fast as I should have done, and I suspect the circumstances behind this review were a result of that. As of today, I’m glad to say that those that are comfortable with the pace appear to be thriving. But we do need to take measures to make sure that our people management processes evolve as we grow, and that we make sure we listen more and more carefully for any signals which suggest everyone is not as content as they seem at first sight. We’re shortly to be instituting a quick anonymous welfare survey to make sure we catch issues early. The other thing we’ll do is use Glassdoor as a further anonymous feedback platform which we’ll encourage employees to post on, freely and honestly. I hope this will be the worst review we’ll ever get, but I’m sure we’ll learn more about what we can do better, and I look forward to that.

Pros

Good company for starting your career. 3D metal printing is an innovative technology.

Cons

Chaotic project management. People from the management hold high formal education degrees but a lack of suitable skills to manage production, labs etc.

Hello there - this is Michael. I'm really sorry you're not enjoying it - I lose sleep whenever I hear of an unhappy colleague. Come and have a chat about what we could be doing better - I'd love to hear. Promise you can remain anonymous beyond me if that's your preference. And...the share options are on the way. Everyone's who's joined since the last options round should get some next week, and if we've done our sums right everyone else should have some already.

Pros

You’ll work on some really interesting projects along in a fast paced environment gaining experiences in multiple disciplines. The CEO from what interaction I have had shows to care about his employees on a deep level of which I respect his approach.

Cons

There’s a lot of very intelligent individuals from esteemed universities which has created a class system which stems from the very top of head of functions who lack the personal skills to communicate fairly but would rather scold an individual and make them feel small between the cliques they have created. Alloyed is very much a your face must fit environment between these individuals. The work culture within alloyed will be what holds it back from moving forward and result in some sort of work place HR dispute in a tribunal. There is no support within alloyed if you are not performing there is no conversation around what could be preventing you from achieving the required whether that be personal circumstances or bullying from within you are simply pulled to one side given a 3 months garden leave to never be seen again. You will find yourself burnt out. Lacking the industrial experience to organise things correctly.

Hello there - this is Michael. It's hard growing a business in this sector, but even with 160 colleagues, learning that any single one is unhappy is something I lose sleep over, and, with someone who's been here over three years - well, that's worse. As you're still with us, please do put your head above the parapet and discuss what we - I - should be doing better. I'd love to learn more, and promise it would be in confidence.
