Pros

- the company hires brilliant people with good background and experience - good projects and clients - competitive compensation - flexibility between wfh and work from office - some things are organized and some are chaotic which is understandable for a small and young company - a lot of growth potential

Cons

I’m from the toronto office and I can only speak for myself and what I experience or see. The culture or should I say practically everything is dictated by 1 person - appy’s golden boy who is so full of himself. It’s always about him. He makes all the decisions and when someone else decides, he will make sure they are always wrong and he makes it known to everyone. He has directors but he treats them like juniors and puppets and they make things worse instead of balancing things out. It’s hard for them to establish credibility and earn people’s respect. He still runs the whole show even though he seems not involved in projects. In short, he is toxic and therefore, the culture he cultivates is toxic.

Pros

-Good pay incentives once you start working on projects -Good transparency with sales dept. -Lots of smart people do work here, especially in other offices

Cons

There are way more than this, but I will give it a go with my top 5. I work in the Toronto office. 1. They won’t negotiate your offer with you, and will expect you to start ASAP. As I didn’t want to start right away, I asked for a later date provided others were starting with me in the same Onboarding program. I never heard from HR after I signed my offer; I had to write and say, hey am I still starting here? So that should have been my first clue to leave. When I did start, there was no one else who was a f/t SBC with me as I’d requested. 2. I thought the mock session I had to run during my interview was bad (also a time you should run, it’s not ok for a potential employer to ask you to prepare something which takes you hours of work), when you begin your Onboarding RAMP they expect you to do a presentation weekly in addition to daily quizzes. They don’t provide you with a dedicated person to be your buddy and instead expect you to reach out to literally different people every day for help. No one does well with RAMP, and many people leave during the process which they see as a failing on that person - they won’t acknowledge that their RAMP design is the problem as well as their unclear expectations. You’ll be continually behind since they don’t have enough people to grade your checkpoints, and some people insist on having them only Fridays which is the day that they all go into the office and start drinking around 3 pm. 3. The actual physical offices are in such bad shape, it’s like working in a very old run down small office. No one even cleaned out the desk they assigned me. They have a bunch of smaller units which were previously occupied by separate tenants and the property is so old and gross, the air circulation is definitely an issue. 4. The company is a run by the equivalent of a bunch of frat boys. They absolutely know NetSuite well, but they have zero ability to mentor, train, and lots of them are even terrible at presenting. The person who thinks he’s the best is actually incredibly inefficient and you’ll be forced to listen/watch lots of his videos which is painful and unnecessary. There is a lack of diversity in so many areas, but the ones which stand out are age, gender, and ability. They refused to provide any accommodation once I disclosed that I required it. 5. They are trying to expand because there is lots of demand but they can’t retain employees. They don’t pay well enough, and there is no work/life balance. Even from your first week, you’re expected to put in much more than 8 hrs a day learning content and preparing for your checkpoints. They seem to think they have an endless pool of people to pick from who want to work there.

Pros

Decent training for NetSuite tech, clients are nice to work with. If you like to party, you'll probably have some good time.

Cons

Oh don't get me started on this one. First one - the management love to play favorites to those who go clubbing with them. They're poorly trained on how to communicate and conduct a professional business and operate with zero empathy toward the 'consultants' who don't form a part of their clique. It's not uncommon to see a manager yell at people publicly with utter disdain and make people around them fearful of their presence. I haven't worked at any place where there is total disregard for human dignity and people operating their teams like a fiefdom where everything they say/do rules. My time there was worst ever that I ever had faced through my professional career where I was constantly mocked at, and judged for being different and thrown under the bus/blamed for smallest possible issues. There was a constant threat of firing me in case I didn't comply. Thankfully I found a better role and leaving Appficiency was the best decision that I ever did. If you're reading this and considering a career at Appficiency, consider yourself warned.
