Pros

Good base salary. Capable top management.

Cons

The presales team in Singapore is the most inexperienced and nastiest which I have worked with in my entire 10-year career. Presales in Singapore seems to have a lot of time and is constantly engaging in bad mouthing and company politics to cover up its incompetence. The presales in Singapore has some humongous ego and behave like a kid, always acting in a childish puffed up manner, as if to say, "Hey, look at me, can't you see that I am so great?" Worst of all, presales in Singapore is always purposely sabotaging and being obstructive to sales efforts, resulting in many stalled opportunities in the sales pipeline. On the whole, I experienced different forms of workplace harassment by the presales team in Singapore and that included "withholding resources and information necessary to the job", "false accusations of mistakes and errors", "behind-the-back sabotage and defamation". Can you imagine important deals were lost because prospects thought that Appian is not a tool for business users after seeing a demo which required the users to do lots of coding? And can you imagine the presales personnel purposely hide the fact that he is on annual leave on a certain date when a POC had been scheduled with a prospect? In another instance, presales turned up one day before an important RFP presentation with the demo completely unprepared. That is how substandard and rotten-to-the-core Appian presales is in Singapore, a complete lack of professionalism and personal integrity. The company is experimenting with the set up in Singapore and it is a risky career move to join Appian Singapore at this time. The next sales rep joining Appian Singapore will have an extremely difficult time dealing with presales in Singapore. Had I know the situation in Appian Singapore, I would have taken up other job offers one year ago.

Pros

I really liked some of the people and made some good friends there.

Cons

Leadership is mostly concerned with protecting their own position at the company and don't actually seem to care about much else. The sales have slowed down and they immediately look for anyone to blame that isn't them. Every time there is a soft quarter, you watch a stream of people get sacrificed to protect bad managers. Most of the longer term employees learned from this system and are experts at dodging responsibility. The internal systems (built on Appian, of course) are a jumbled mess. All the silos build their own utilities, everything is inconsistent, and there are constant arguments about whose view is right when the truth is the systems and reporting are so bad that no one really knows. Things get lost all the time, customers get frustrated, and the managers blame their teams. There is no consistency in what they say the product does. The core platform has changed very little in 5 years, but they keep over promising and spinning to make it seem like it's making huge changes. It was "unifying enterprise data" then "low code data" then "data fabric". Three names for the same thing. They just polish the turd and try to resell it to customers every 6-12 months with heightened expectations. You're in a terrible situation following the sales and marketing people as you have to reset the customer expectations to reality. It is an awful grind working here. Leaving felt amazing.

Pros

From the initial job screening to onboarding to training and final assignment is a well oiled machine. Appian is built on small highly skilled and empowered teams with world class support structure including but not limited to legal, HR, IT, Proposal Management, Marketing and Training. If you are someone who enjoys accomplishing your goals then this is the place for you. Warning!! You will be held accountable.

Cons

Pay seems below market average but not drastically low.
