      Very nice people, very slow to change

      Pros

      Some of the nicest people I have ever worked with, supportive working environment, real teamwork between those on the coal-face in the stores and those in the HQ.

      Cons

      HQ people whilst they are nice, really lack drive and ambition. There was the infamous "5pm stampede" where all the clockwatchers file out of the door at 5pm prompt. The organization in general is resistant to change, it is no wonder it got bought out by Sainsbury's.

      Get pally with the managers and area managers!

      Pros

      Staff discount. Friendly staff. Stores are all interlinked so if you can't help customers then chances are another store in the area can.

      Cons

      To get up in company in my experience you need to be quite friendly with the management and then area management. Middle Management and Supervisors aren't trained properly.

      Pros

      Stable company with a visionary stance on growth and development. Promotes values and respects and harnesses individuality. Flexible working hours and great environment to work in.

      Cons

      Low rate pay as it is retail. Even at management level they salaries aren't that great. Some unsociable hours. The worst part is that the customers don't see everything that happens behind the scenes.
