Libraries are one of the best public services in existence, and Austin Public Library works hard to be a welcoming and important part of the community

Patrons can sometimes act aggressively or place blame on the employee

Pros

The City offers decent health insurance and benefits. There are a lot of opportunities for growth You can qualify for bonuses after 5 years, student loan forgiveness, and tuition reimbursement for up to $2,000

Cons

The library has a highly political atmosphere and a Good ol' boy system of hiring It's HR undermines it's employees and reinforces a retaliatory environment The base pay are not livable
