Pros

System pretty easy to use.

Cons

Pay rates are ridiculous. They tell you the charts are 10-15 pages when they get you to sign on but that's not true. Then they come up with some crazy per chart and hourly combination they keep changing around so you don't even know what you'll get paid until after you've done the work. Why not just pay coders a flat per chart rate based on chart size like other companies? You can't meet expectations then they just want to pay you $2.90 a chart that took 45 minutes to do? It's a ripoff. You'd make more flipping burgers at McDonalds and we are certified coders :-(

Pros

flexible hours and a variety of projects

Cons

They switched from a contractor model to employee model about a year ago, which resulted in a pay cut of about 1/3. Their pay-structure is unique- they pay a flat hourly rate with a piece rate on top of it. The hourly rate is about half of what you will make an hour- but you will only be paid that hourly rate for vacation and holidays- making it impossible to use vacation. Who can live on half a pay check? The piece rate has been cut on a few different projects I've been on- resulting in another pay cut. I'm hoping to find a company that values their employees more soon. The benefits are expensive and they only offer a high deductible plan.

Pros

Not really hard, no micro manager, system very easy to use. Just log on and fill out spreadsheet for hours and charts coded.

Cons

They advertise $25 but the charts start out as 18 pages and then they get larger and larger and since most people can't meet productivity, they lower the pay rate.

We appreciate you for sharing honest feedback. We too, would prefer less variation the size of clinical documentation. As you can appreciate, not all coders are capable of the same productivity which is a key factor in "hourly wage". Our most productive coders earn much more than $25/hour. The good news is we listen to all feedback and if we can make change we will.
