The high-rated reviews of this company are either fake, summer interns who don't know any better or former employees who didn't work in the headquarters on a day-to-day basis.
There is a horrible work environment at Blade. Toxic masculinity runs rampant and there are people who get special treatment inside the company. If you somehow fall into this category you will love it here. You can come and go as you please, hop on flights, work on cool projects, get raises and enjoy vacation.
If you don't fall into that category then you're in trouble. The majority of employees here are overworked, publicly criticized, and constantly told they are underperforming.
Performance reviews are non-existent. If you somehow clawed your way into getting one, it is just for show so you feel like you are heard. When you do your job well, you will be expected to take on more responsibility without any compensation.
There isn't much of a work-life balance. You are expected to be available and responsive to the CEO whenever he feels like contacting you. If you are unresponsive, your co-workers will start reaching out to you as well so you don't get in trouble. There is an "unlimited" vacation policy however you are always criticized for taking one and are expected to be working remotely.
