Pros

The kids learn to read, and it really does help them. Very dedicated tutors.

Cons

Their mission sounds good, but really, it is so poorly executed that it comes across as a lie. If this Executive Director cared more the students and her employees more than she does about schmoozing with the likes of Betsy DeVos, perhaps she could afford to get some real work done and tutor for the whole year. But every year, they run out of money, sometimes halfway through the year, and half to pull out of the schools. I find it odd that there are people who work in the office who sit around watching TV on their work computers work all year though. Definitely unfair pay rates, with people driving to the school making $12/hour and people in the office claiming here on GlassDoor that they make $50,000. I've seen what the office staff does - a whole lot of nothing.

Pros

Helping children create a better future for themselves

Cons

Toxic people that set people up to fail. A terrible and archaic work environment that is the most inefficiently run organization I have experienced.
