Promising Series A (Remote) startup - huge opportunity, comes with risk
Pros
Bloom has smart people that are passionate and nice. Everyone is helpful and for an early stage company, they have invested a good amount in the right platforms and tools. The industry has huge growth potential and it's amazing that Bloom has been committed to remote since its inception (not just because of Covid). We have high quality benefits and pay is pretty competitive. The tech stack is modern (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Go, Python, Node, React etc) and I have lots of opportunities to learn on the job. Weekly we do Mob Programming and it's a great way to learn from more senior engineers. The company has invested in SRE/DevOps practices and tools. Documentation is good overall and there is an emphasis on quality.
Cons
Like all Series A startups, there are challenges associated with the competing constraints of growing Enterprise Customer revenues, building infrastructure and tooling, while maintaining the balance and quality of life one desires. I wish we could do Pairing more frequently. Sometimes documentation can be a little out of date, making it a little difficult to be as self-sufficient as I'd like to be. I would like to have a little more visibility into why we do the work we do. I've heard that there is intent there and we've added Productboard so everyone gets more access to the strategy and the roadmap.
