Pros

Boveda is full of opportunities for those willing to seize them. If you have drive, curiosity, and the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, this company offers incredible room for growth. Having been here for a long time, I can safely say I still love my job. My role continuously evolves as the company scales and tackles new markets in exciting ways. Leadership is genuinely passionate about honoring the history of the Boveda brand while aggressively pursuing new, innovative areas of business.

Cons

High growth comes with tough choices. Adapting to shifting market priorities has required restructuring, particularly in 2022. It’s a fast-moving environment, and the strategic shifts can be tough to navigate.

Transformative culture thrives despite challenging transitions

Pros

The culture here is genuinely unlike anything I've experienced in my career. People care about each other and about the work. Communication from leadership is clear and you always understand the direction the company is heading. What's impressed me most is that input from all levels of the org actually gets heard, and decisions get made without a lot of drag. We've launched two new brands recently and there's real energy around where things are going. I feel lucky to be part of it.

Cons

2022 was a really hard year. The company made a significant strategic shift and it wasn't easy on anyone. We lost some people I respected deeply, and there were moments of real uncertainty. Looking back, I think the CEO made some incredibly tough calls that not everyone understood at the time, including me. Those decisions took courage and I don't think they get enough credit. The transition was painful, but it set the company up for the growth we're seeing now. No company gets it right every time, and going through hard things together actually made the culture stronger.

Pros

Typical day would include standard office activities but with excessive dysfunction and an astounding level of lack of communication. This issue has been brought up many times over the last 5 years. Nothing has been done about it. Leadership has mysterious tasks they disappear to do for hours on end but yet nothing actually seems to get done for anything pressing. They take MONTHS to make even the most basic decisions. Other departments make decisions on changes that affect customers but don't involve or tell those who are direct contact with customers so it ends in mass chaos & confusion. Over my few years there what I learned...was you are told your input matters, but in reality, that input matters only to put a target on your back. If you question ANYTHING that the person running HR has implemented, you're deemed as 'not aligned with the culture' and they find anything they can to fire you for it or intimidate you so bad you quit. It is sad that the CEOs have allowed these things to happen without consequence but not surprising since they are not who they claim to be. They are themselves very two-faced and definitely not honest so it seems to fit how they allow this HR person to do the things being done. I have seen several very good employees being suddenly let go shortly after each one has brought direct concerns to leadership. If you push back at all, you're gone. Just look at LinkedIn on how many people were hired and then let go from 2020 to 2022. I think this may have something to do with the Company Covenants they insist on reading each week, kind of like a thinly-veiled threat to employees. Managers are all terrible. Some of the people in charge of other team members should absolutely not be in charge of anyone. They have zero understanding on how to lead and coach others. The only reason I have been able to stick around is my ability to keep my head down and play dumb. It is hard to find work out there in my field for the same salary I have right now so I cannot risk it. I just want to make the public aware. The company was not like this when I started so it wasn't like I have had to suffer all this time. Something changed within the mindset of the CEOs but I have yet to figure out what the change was or was from.

Cons

They do not seem to want to fix the issue with communication between departments. Their solutions only seem to be implementing new messaging software instead of addressing the real issues that plague the company and have for years.
