Pros

Supportive team, fun atmosphere, thats about it.

Cons

No base pay, Lied to to get recruited, spend more than you make for months. Do not expect to make what ever they say you will. Do not expect to make any money for at least 3 months, even with the 40-50 hour work weeks, making hundreds of calls a month, you will make nothing for a while.

Pros

When I came on board 3 years ago, I immediately felt welcome and valued. The training they provide is exceptional and did a great job at conveying what I needed to do to be successful. It was obvious the had been around the block many times and knew what they were doing. The additional rewards and company get-togethers really drive a strong company culture. Finally, I love the compensation and bonus program; never thought I would be "one of those people" making this much money.

Cons

Sometimes it's tough being productive all the time without a whip behind my back. I like the time freedom, but I've really had to learn to structure my time and be diligent with my goals. I've learned that sticking to a structured plan is difficult and I've seen a number of people come and go who I thought were more talented than me simply because they wouldn't maintain the level of activity needed to be successful. It also takes a little time getting a client base, so it can be financially straining at first if you don't have a savings. That said, after three years, I can unequivocally say that it's worth it.

Pros

All smiles and encouragement when I said I wanted something part-time. This is your solution and "we see something special in you". You can do it.

Cons

Be prepared to live on nothing for 3-4 months. And know that they will NOT tell you which accounts are already active. They want you to see those as "referral" opportunities even if it means you are investing more time and money where there is no chance for a sale. First, there is 2-3 weeks studying and taking State Insurance exams ($120), then the FBI and fingerprinting ($155), then they want you to buy candy and labels. There is a push to make copies of rate sheets, build folders, handwrite hundreds of notes, and get a laptop. You'll invest nothing short of $1000. Only it isn't part-time, it's dropping by 75 businesses a week and making 150 -200 cold calls a day, and hand-writing notes on 3x5 Post Its in the evening, and making up new drop packets. You'll invest each week until as they said "even the poorest sales person eventually gets lucky".
