Pros

Flexible work schedules, decent health insurance

Cons

Project managers are severely overworked leading to new engineers learning everything on their own with high utilization rates. There is a lot of gossiping, managers overseeing their best friends, and extremely dysfunctional teams with people openly breaking down in the office. If you can function on your own you can do decently well, but the culture needs a lot of work. I saw several new engineers given utilization rates around 95% who were not given much work to do and then were chastised for not hitting their utilization.

Thank you for sharing your perspective and for recognizing our flexible work options and benefits. We respectfully disagree with the characterization of our culture and teams. While expectations in a consulting environment are high, we place strong emphasis on accountability, collaboration, and professional growth. Utilization goals are established with business needs in mind and are supported through active project planning and manager engagement. We continuously invest in training, leadership development, and clear performance expectations to ensure employees—especially early‑career professionals—are positioned to succeed, using a broad range of data points to guide ongoing improvement. We appreciate the opportunity to respond and wish you continued success in your career.

We agree – CHA has the BEST people. Our people are a point of pride for this company! I’m sorry to learn you feel our compensation is lower than most. We work hard to ensure our compensation offerings are competitive or better than other firms. I welcome a conversation if you would like to discuss your concerns. Reach out to me or your HR Business Partner; we are happy to meet with you.

Pros

Other younger staff are all feeling similarly burnt out and frustrated, so we’ve been comfortable going to each other for support.

Cons

1. Everyone I work with is burnt out due to being spread too thin. 2. Lack of training for younger employees. 3. Ineffective PMs who don’t actually manage much about a project. Bad scopes resulting in projects easily going over budget. 4. No urgency with replacing engineers who leave. Particularly ones with a specific skillset that the team needs. 5. Lack of quality control (or the QC review is too quick and put off until it’s too late to do a thorough job) 6. Benefits are average when other companies offer far above average. No Christmas bonus. CHA does do spot bonuses for performance but I have not seen them often. 7. Lack of joy and lack of culture. It is hard to feel fulfilled and passionate about work when we don’t do any outings as teams and there’s very minimal office events. Everyone I work with is burnt out and the passion is dying. Turnover risk is high. 8. The company seems to value money and winning jobs over retaining employees and keeping them happy.
