Pros

Projects generally contribute to the societal good. There are a lot of smart people you can learn a lot from. High starting salary compared to comparable roles.

Cons

Could get stuck with a bad project for a long time. Some leaders could do a better job setting direction. No job ladder. No yearly increments. Random promotions.

Pros

Very flat organisational structure, got to work with senior leadership and staff who were all very friendly and willing to teach you valuable research skills. Very refreshing to work in an environment without a strict hierarchy; everyone feels like a friend

Cons

Can get quite fast-paced and busy at times, but nothing too overwhelming
