Pros

Working at ChromaWay offered the advantage of minimal meetings, allowing more focused time for tasks and projects. This lean meeting culture often resulted in more efficient time use and fewer disruptions.

Cons

My experience at ChromaWay was marred by significant miscommunication and confusion. Initial misunderstandings about my role and expectations set a challenging tone. Although I received positive feedback on my tasks, I was often left with unclear instructions. On one occasion, I was given only a 15-minute notice to present at a meeting, leaving me little time to prepare adequately. Communication within the company was lacking. I was excluded from critical meetings, making it hard to stay updated on team expectations and present my work effectively. Despite actively seeking feedback and guidance from management, my requests were often overlooked. Adding to this, the Project Manager, who is also married to the CTO, arranged for a coworker to inform me of my impending contract termination on the same day I received positive feedback on a task I presented to the team. This unexpected news was perplexing and disheartening. I contacted the Project Manager for a meeting to discuss her perspective and received no response for an entire month, which was my notice period. During this time, I was removed from all team meetings. This lack of communication and guidance left me directionless and unable to discuss the reasons for my impending contract termination. This potential conflict of interest within the management structure may have influenced the company's communication and decision-making processes. Despite my consistent contributions and the value I added to the team, as evidenced by praise from my peers on our Zulip channels, these efforts seemed unrecognised by the management.

Pros

Some people were or perhaps still are trying to change things around.

Cons

It's unclear what this company is trying to achieve. There is very little company-wide talk about goals and direction. Most things are a facade. Lots of positivity and celebration but mainnet is nowhere to be seen and some projects are useless or struggling due to bad or toxic leadership. Lots of talk about transparency but no real communication. Claims of supporting a decentralized organization and project autonomy, but only if you do things the way they want them, although they don’t tell you what that is so success here is elusive. Riddled with politics, conflicts of interest and nepotism. These are prioritized over feedback from talented and experienced team members. This company is where accountability goes to die. No actions are taken in face of bullying, harassment, or constant conflict, even if there are clear patterns and instigators. Processes and systems are extremely outdated and bureaucratic for a company in tech.
