Pros

One of the best translators on the market, with excellent quality for key languages. However, the situation is chaotic to the point of being almost amusing to watch. The fake reviews from the Talent Acquisition team are also entertaining in their own way. Interestingly, this is the only company where employees are actually hoping for layoffs, which is quite unusual. Favoritism is prevalent; if you’re in the good books of certain C-levels or senior leaders, you can get away with almost anything—even inappropriate comments or disruptive behavior. If you’re a current or former employee and believe my review is fair and accurate, please give it a like.

Cons

Numerous operational challenges have persisted for years without being resolved, despite management’s awareness. Commissions are often not paid accurately, and the equity offered frequently falls short of what was promised during interviews. There is a significant pay gap between Account Executives hired this year and those from previous years. The company culture is poor, with subtle instances of racism and bullying observed in certain teams. Departments operate in silos, with inconsistent pacing and priorities and a lack of revenue-driven processes. While there are multiple internal surveys and discussions about making improvements, nothing meaningful changes. There is no accountability, and there’s a clear lack of processes, ideal customer profiles, and essential support for the sales team. Open, honest feedback tends to be met with retaliation. Overall, leadership seems uninterested, focused only on a quick exit strategy without acknowledging the time and commitment that real improvement requires.

Pros

- Some of the people are nice - Salary is okay

Cons

- The culture is becoming horrendous, with management spending their time peddling company BS on LinkedIn instead of addressing the real issues. - A number of people who were referred in from the old company and started less than a year ago are already polishing up their LinkedIn profiles looking to leave for new opportunities.

Pros

Good quality product competing with the industry leaders. Flexible working.

Cons

A previous Glassdoor post talks about a lot of hiring of friends & ex colleagues from Twilio. The Twilio clique is very real, with a bias towards the development of their ex colleagues / friends. If you are ex-Twilio, you will do brilliantly at DeepL! Not a lot of confidence in leadership. There is a lot of talk by leadership, that DeepL is an incredibly fast paced company. My experience is it is more chaotic than fast paced & for a small company they have created overly complicated processes & do not move quickly at all.
