Pros

Lately DG has undergone some big changes which should be transformational for the organization; it almost feels like a start up organization. We have very interesting coworkers from all over the world and with different backgrounds. Management truly invests time in staff tto make sure that they are happy with what they are doing and that they have the resources they need to do their jobs. There's a lot of room for growth for team members - but you have to be aware of what is going on and ask to do new things. There are also lots of opportunities for travel to some interesting places. Finally, it's a positive work environment (almost family-like) with good benefits.

Cons

For many reasons, there is less accountability for some team members than others, meaning that some members are not respectful of policies or simply do not contribute anything meaningful work wise. More often than not, nothing happens to these team members. Also, the speed with which senior management makes high-level organizational decisions can be excruciatingly slow.

Pros

Great opportunity for junior staff to gain practical, hands-on experience working with governments and donors at the cutting edge of open government and aid transparency. Major evolution in the last year towards greater internal accountability, improved management processes, and exciting new project innovations with game-changing potential in international development. Colleagues are in general a fun, dedicated, and international group. Not to mention an impressive cadre of young, new team members who bring creativity, enthusiasm and fresh ideas.

Cons

In the past, senior management decision-making was too slow, but process overhauls and changes to management in the last year have noticeably improved the pace and transparency of decisions.

Pros

Development Gateway is an organization that is in its best years yet. It offers young people great opportunities to get their "hands dirty" on interesting projects while also offering extensive experience in developing countries. The open work culture allows the staff to grow in their professional development. Senior management is extremely friendly, approachable and listen to staff concerns taking immediate action to rectify problems where possible. Over the past few years the environment has changed for the better with the organization moving forward in key areas that are relevant to today's technical challenges. If you are looking to learn and gain experience in the international development arena this is a great place to work.

Cons

In the past the organization was too "top heavy" with too many management staff. However, this is now changing with the organization cutting out the "fat" and staffing with a young dynamic staff while at the same time keeping an equal measure of "experienced" staff in place.
