Pros

Not much to say here, free parking, the toilets work.

Cons

I did just 3 days training, it's was clear training is minimal and The Service Advisor role is really just a level up from an automated answer-phone service. I was just looking for an interesting second job, it was made clear to me after just 3 days of training, that the Service Advisor job at Devon Doctor's is risky (as the computer script you have to use is limited at best and you will get zero chance of avoiding an error following such a dubiously scripted script for any complicated patients/scenario's etc), hence Devon Doctor's (DD) being in Special Measures with the CQC. In a nut shell you are told on the training course with DD's that you should not say anything that is not on the scripted options as we (the service advisors are NOT Clinicians), yet in the same breath, we are told to get to the correct scripted option we will need to ask a (theoretically endless) list of NOT SCRIPTED probing questions (depending on the patient/scenario you are dealing with. A glaring contradiction in my eyes, we are not Clinicians so don't say anything without being a Clinician, yet if you don't ask the correct probing questions, you might end up in Coroner's Court if you pick the wrong option (a direct quote whilst training). Plus, you will be live on the phones after 4-5 days training, with 54 different options to pick from lol. Oh and before I forget, I did not get paid for the training I did, it seems paying people for their time is not important to Devon Doctor's either. Be warned, it seems Special Measures by the CQC is very well justified.

Pros

Not many pro's at all, the cons fully out way anything positive.

Cons

Management and Exec team have zero leadership skills, a culture of blame, managing through fear, fear of reprisal, no mission or values, little direction, not organised, no real care for front line staff... more importantly, patients have died because this organisation have no structure, no real process - means mistakes are made and sometimes smoothed over. Toxic senior leadership team.

Pros

- Dedicated team of frontline staff. Clinicians and coordinators are generally professional and care for patients. - Liked my colleagues. - Process-driven role, with an element of thinking on your feet to keep things interesting.

Cons

- Top-heavy with middle-management, the majority of whom are unqualified or incompetent. I’ve been left dumbfounded at some of the decisions that have been made by these bunglers. - Erratic addition of extra duties to your role, termed as a ‘trial period’, which basically means that management are panicking and making executive decisions that affect what you do without proper consultation. - You have to work with Somerset as they are partnered with Devon Doctors. The management are a pain, and they create more issues in proportion to the ones they solve. - Countless examples of gross misconduct that goes unpunished. I’ve witnessed bullying and general nastiness which would’ve been an instant dismissal in any other organisation, but not Devon Doctors. - Dreadful HR team.
