Pros

Flexible scheduling is great, also get about two weeks of paid time off Get to feel good about your work, staff believes in what they do and it shows Health/vision/dental insurance cost paid by employer, but see the cons

Cons

Very high turnover, quite a few staff gone in the last year or so and people continue to leave, not all of them replaced so extra work to do Repeated internal funding issues Low pay, ~1% raises when they rarely happen, nothing for anyone in 2015, $500 bonus for everyone instead of a raise for 2016 No real room for advancement High-deductible health, vision/dental with deductible Only 4% 401k matching but some long time staff get more Outsourced IT, outsourced HR Moving from offices into cubicles Employer only covers about half of parking cost

Pros

Flexible schedule. Most of the lawyers and advocates are nice.

Cons

About 50 FTEs. Can qualify for FMLA only when there are at least 50 FTEs. Very low salaries that won't go anywhere when the raise is between a half-percent and 1.5% every 18 to 24 months. There is an executive leadership problem. In an organization of about 50 employees, there are 11 on the "leadership team." Too many chiefs... Very high turnover, roughly 10+ experienced, good employees in last 12 months (20%). Paid time off is very low. Health benefits are very expensive. No on-site HR, its outsourced, disorganized, and fractured among at least 3 different companies. Management works the good employees to the point of burnout. Incompetent employees who cannot do the job are left in place. No equal opportunity for career advancement.

Pros

Employees care very much about their clients Most of the staff is nice and easy to work with outside of management

Cons

Compensation lags severely behind, even compared to other nonprofits Employees continue to leave at a high rate and if they are replaced, their replacements are not good Time off is okay but could be better Management can be very controlling, and not in a good way Morale is very low, and top management does not want to hear about it
