Pros

Management aside, my co-workers were awesome, fun, talented people a number of whom I still call friends. I was lucky enough to get to work with a few folks who, despite the unsupportive environment, taught me a lot about problem solving, passion, and how to deal with a difficult work place.

Cons

Emerge is a business attempting to stay afloat and thus operates for the bottom line. Quality is not of importance nor is the improvement of employee skill. This relatively small company has super-high turnover. There is literally ALWAYS someone quitting. The business just isn't run well. Its about doing quick, cheap work. The business end is sloppy and flippant, prioritizing client lunches over polished pitch documents or proper management of project parameters. The project management team is understaffed an pressed between unhappy in-house folks and insane clients. They work under the direction to please the client at all costs, making this a horrible situation for everyone that results in long hours, blown budgets, and ultimately, poor work. In my time at Emerge I was repeatedly encouraged to cut corners even in the face of creating work that would not meet client needs. I was involved in sugarcoating the environmental records of large clients. I was continuously interrupted by infighting between adversarial personalities made much worse by management, who failed on every account to take responsibility for their employees or their work. The CEO is more interested in promoting the tech buzzword of the day than committing to and perfecting a digital niche.

If you've read this far I thank you for your interest in learning more about Emerge. Glassdoor is a great website that fosters transparency in the workplace--a tenet that we believe is core to building trust, our team and running a successful business. We believe it is essential to respect everyone’s opinion to learn and grow as we go forward. The previous review sadly makes several dishonest claims. Not everyone honors the responsibility that comes with the open flow of information. If you have any concerns about what has been stated in this review, I urge you to talk to us and learn more about Emerge, our values and our wonderful team. Thank you again for your interest in Emerge Interactive. Jonathon Hensley CEO

Pros

Management very accessible, challenging and fulfilling work, team events throughout the year. The business is growing, so there are opportunities for personal growth. Emerge is trying to build a client base with excellent corporate responsibility records, and looks to do projects for the better good.

Cons

Smaller business, so can't compete with the large guys on all benefits. Company is changing client focus to Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility projects, so adaptability is a key attribute that employees need to be successful. Utilization requirements can cause shifting between projects.

Pros

Can't think of any other than the team being friendly

Cons

Management here is a joke, they depend on gimmicks and games and yes men to get the job done. CEO surrounds himself with buddies that quietly don't seem to respect him, but feel the need to agree with him for the sake of having a job. I can go on about the red flags here: 1. CEO depends on his team to create brand strategies that he then takes credit for 2. CEO is basically a glorified salesman who relies on his team to make any executive decisions and even then messes up budgets and timelines that he blames others for rather than take initiative to fix. 3. Nearly every employee is a friend of the CEO or a friend of his friends, which makes you wonder what are the true motives of the people you work with 4. During a work conference, CEO was unwilling spend the few hundred bucks to have a working conference room, instead opting on buying a TV that he couldn't figure out how to connect and couldn't be bothered to Google on how to set up his own tv. 5. COO when asked when he couldn't train on basics of the company says "I'm pretty sure I mentioned that I'm not a good mentor" 6. CEO seemed visibly upset when his subordinates didn't immediately focus on him. 7. A lot buzzwords to appear knowledgeable but lacks true understanding of how things work and how to grow businesses... teams didn't seem to understand the full scope of the job they were doing, focusing on cookie cutter solutions rather than the big picture strategy that was advertised to clients. I could go on but I'm sure there's a word limit here... CEO will probably interject as he did in other posts that criticize him or his company... CEO is so afraid of criticism that he turned off the ability to see 1 star reviews of his book (which encompasses 15% of his reviews) Also don't be fooled by good reviews, team mates are basically asked to go and write good reviews (ask me how I know)... while the bad ones are turned off or downplayed.... says a lot about the ego of leadership here... There's a reason that the company has been around for 20 years but hasn't shown any growth, it's basically a personal piggy bank for upper management so they don't need to get real jobs.
