Pros

I started working here a little over two years ago and I planned to be here only for the summer, but what happened is that I was so impressed with my experience that what I planned to have as "just a job," became my career. I pasted the company's values below. When you visit my team, you will see that these values are posted all over the place. They're not just on the walls, we actually talk about them every day. If you have respect for excellence, you would be a good fit for my team. When I started working here, it took about four months to become very confident and able to perform my work with expertise. By the time I had been here 8 months, I was able to offer training to our newest team members on things like using our software system, stocking your company vehicle, safely using ladders, and other skills. Some of the best parts of the job are the way management views employee development, how solid the training is, the fact that everyone here is really positive and it's a very upbeat workplace. I also moved up very quickly and received four raises within two years. ABC Humane Wildlife Values ◦ We approach our work in the interest of human health and safety with a love of nature and a deep respect for all living things. ◦ We treat everyone with dignity and respect. ◦ We communicate completely, openly, clearly and honestly. ◦ Our team works through support and cooperation. ◦ We go about our work with focus and good cheer. ◦ We honor the relationships that connect our team, our clients and our community. ◦ We provide a clean and safe environment for our clients and our team members. ◦ We support the physical and emotional well-being of our clients and team members. ◦ We take pride in our commitment to provide quality service and a 5-star client experience. ◦ We are dedicated to learning, teaching, and ongoing development. ◦ We celebrate and reward accomplishments and “A+” players. ◦ We are a fiscally responsible company.

Cons

Days can run long if there are too many wildlife emergencies to respond to. Some days in the peak of the busiest season in the summer can be 12-hour days. You need physical skills, like being able to carry, place, and climb ladders. Safety equipment is provided.

Pros

Interesting line of work, employees are kind and enthusiastic, consistent hours, weekly pay, solid sense of collaboration. Many tenured employees who are open to change and teaching newcomers. Management has high standards, but that makes it a great entry-to-mid level job. You learn a lot about sales, business psychology, and standard operating procedures.

Cons

With it being a regional company, there wasn’t a ton of room for growth on the administrative side.

Pros

I've been here two years and it's been great for me. Last year I had the chance to participate in a fast track management training program that helped me grow more quickly. The program was great because it let me shadow in other departments and get to know other managers who are very kind encouraging and educational. I'm doing the second level in the fast track program this winter. I really like that the company uses its winter slower season to invest in the A plus players that it calls the eagles because they show eagle like performance by caring about clients, speaking with honesty, and living the company values like caring about the environment and safety. I would definitely recommend roles in this company to a close friend or family member who I care about. My manager is a very kind person who checks in with me one on one and every person on his team one on one every week. He models enthusiasm and integrity and I'm fortunate to work under someone who I respect and like. Since I'm about to do my second winter in the 90 day fast track program I'm taking on shift supervisor duties so I get to be in charge of two shifts each week for my team that is giving me leadership experience. My manager debriefs with me after each shift I lead so I feel supported and I'm able to ask him questions about anything unfamiliar. I haven't had a chance to work one on one with the owners of the company yet but they are very friendly and inspiring. They are involved in science and research and they are into protecting nature and the environment. There isn't anyone on the management team or even assistant managers who isn't friendly and totally cool. I especially like the assistant manager in my department because you will not meet a nicer person who is more eager to help.

Cons

Occasionally I have to call a customer who is unreasonable or mean but I tell myself that they might be experiencing pain somewhere in their life and it might just be manifesting in this conversation so I should just treat them with extra kindness because you never know what a person is going through. It still gets me feeling full of adrenaline when I'm getting yelled at by a customer though.
