Pros
lots of work, great opportunities to be exposed to different projects all over China. Very busy office
Cons
Design quality is low on average. there are some great projects, maybe 1 in 20. the rest are mediocre and poor. It is a company of quantity, not quality. There is very little technical knowledge and therefore building execution is very weak. perhaps 1/2 of all project contracts are only through SD phase. Therefore no quality control over final product. Senior leaders micro-manage and take credit for other's work. Some of the design directors make money for the firm and thus have job security, but they have too many projects on their plate, have no experience with quality product and this can't produce quality work. Junior staff is overworked and under appreciated and underpaid for their contribution. Leaders in HK really can't lead an office long distance very well, though they try hard. It is a culture of butt-kissing. Kiss the right one and you get promoted. It's not about skill, or talent that gets you to the top. It is common to be forced into a position that is not your expertise, then fired for not doing it well.
