Pros
You work with a bunch of average non achievers, including leaders who are lucky to have their job so it's really easy to get by.
Cons
Hiring / firing atmosphere. Lots of politics. The top management will play politics, fiddle numbers and fire people to keep the ownership in dark. Leaderless company - no ceo and a vice chairman who doesn't really get involved leaving it to unqualified top management who have never handled global companies. E.g. - some of the British GMs and MDs in the automotive vertical didn't have degrees or were doing basic jobs in their home countries but in al-Futtaim because of their nexus are able to get jobs they wouldn't qualify for. There's a British mafia right now in automotive, an Arab mafia in real estate, French mafia in retail etc. and the central functions of hr, marketing, legal, audit and investment are one man shows that are extremely poor. If you are the type to take initiative, leadership, performance oriented or go the extra mile this is not the company for you.
