Pros

The culture at Anaplan is unlike any other company I've worked for. Frank, the CEO and most of the leadership team are very open and clear with our accomplishments what challenges and opportunities we face, while still keeping open communication to the entire company on where we're headed. Monthly company-wide FAQ sessions with the CEO foster the culture of openness and honesty. Even during recent stressful times (global pandemic) leadership has showed strength and certainty through these times, which has lifted the morale of plenty employees.

Cons

The Pros above apply only to the org not under the CIO. It's not an overstatement and it's clear: your career will not progress here and you will be miserable. You will be overworked, you will not be credited or praised. You will not have opportunities grow your career or experience. You will be disciplined for voicing your opinion. Verbal Harassment should be expected from the CIO on a consistent basis and HR or the ethics hotline will not help you. It's obvious the CFO cannot run an IT org so he hired a CIO and has ignored them since. The entire organization is treated as the step-child of the company by the CFO, and not one employee's concerns are heard. There is absolutely no way to submit anonymous feedback on management. Those who voice opinions and concerns about business decisions and aren't yes-men to the CIO are pushed out and replaced by someone who can only say yes, no matter how technically incompetent they are. All work falls down to lower level employees with absolutely no recognition. However, if you're looking for a high stress job where all management has absolutely no idea which direction to head and love team-wide meetings where you're verbally harassed over drops in video call performance, this is the job for you.

Pros

One thing I genuinely appreciated was that the C-suite seemed invested in keeping everyone in the loop. The monthly town halls felt like more than just a formality and gave you a real sense of where the company was headed. When you had a good stretch, people noticed. The company feels like it has real momentum and on a macro level.

Cons

Leadership was inconsistent in my experience and seemed to depend heavily on which manager you ended up with. It often felt like luck of the draw. I personally found the planning process to be more reactive than strategic, with urgency only kicking in once results were already suffering rather than getting ahead of it. The workplace culture also had a gossip element that I found draining over time. My biggest frustration was around performance recognition. I observed situations where reported numbers didn't seem to reflect reality, yet the consequences appeared minimal at best. I would have liked to see more transparency and accountability around how top performers were identified and rewarded, because in my experience the current approach didn't always feel equitable to those who were playing by the rules.
