Toxic leadership Huge turnover I was a top performer with big numbers, qualified for our yearly trip that only the top 10% would go to. I grew consistently in my first few years and was consistently promoted and encouraged, until for some unknown reason leadership decided I was no longer on their good list. I was fired by a regional manager in the middle of my workday, after being confronted because upper management heard a rumor I was interviewing somewhere else. A manager above her then called me in tears apologizing for what happened. I called HR to see what the heck was going on and how I could be fired for a rumor about me interviewing elsewhere. HR told me upper management said I had resigned. My mind was on such a roller coaster trip at that point that I agreed with HR, saying that was what happened because in my mind it left me a good reference, when in reality all it did was separate them from a wrongful termination law suit. The level of manipulation was pretty normal there, but I didn't see it until I was in the middle of it. Work here for a year or two and learn the ropes and then run away with your sanity in tact.
