Pros

The pay seems to be pretty reasonable. The center city location is convenient to amenities and transportation.

Cons

Where do I begin?... Should I start with the complete lack of reasonable onboarding or accurate documentation of policies and procedures? Should I start with the rude and patronizing matter in which you'll be spoken to by one of the partners in particular? Or, should I begin with the absolute lack of concrete expectations set with the client or agreement from the partners on the scope of work? Though maybe this review should begin with the way the partners will head out on vacation unexpectedly and drop projects on the team with no warning and no documentation of conversations or agreements on scope or direction had with the client. Choices, choices..... The company works in a super niche sector and essentially does the same three types of projects over and over again. The process should be a well-oiled machine by this point but with the constant employee turnover we are inventing the wheel each time. In three-ish years about 20 of the 23 employees turned over. Think about that. So many projects go off the rails because the partners swoop in at the last minute after not attending meetings on the project (they boast that direct partner participation was part of every project). They aren't familiar with what the client has agreed to and they start upending the work completed which always led to a scramble at the end. It's no way to run an agency. The partners *clearly* have favorites and those golden children can do no wrong—no matter how much the other employees have to alter their working style and process to accommodate the incompetence by these chosen few. If you are very early in your career or if you just need to find full-time work then sure, maybe give it a go for a few months. Be prepared for the crazy though. And be prepared to be spoken to as though you are worthless by one of the partners in particular. Oh, and the few *good* reviews... well, they went up right before a couple of rounds of hiring last year and this year so take them with a grain of salt.

Pros

Arcus provides you with a unique opportunity to decide what you're most interested in, then gives you the freedom to run with it once you prove you deserve to do so. They care about what each employee's goals are and encourage you/provide you with the opportunity to go after them. There's room for growth, competitive pay, freedom to work from home when needed, opportunity to travel, and they acknowledge that each person has a life outside of work (which I didn't experience at previous larger agencies I worked at). They expect you to carry your own weight, be a team player, and manage your workload; do not expect to be babied. They don’t discourage questions, but you do need a sense of independence to figure things out on your own when needed. Some people aren't built for a job like that/require more structure, and in my opinion that is what caused some of the negative reviews I read.

Cons

It's a newer company, so things like project process, HR resources, I.T., employee manuals, etc. are still in the works, but I have seen improvements since I started and it's not much of an inconvenience.

Pros

The employees work well within their teams, I learned a lot about designing for the pharma industry, great location right downtown

Cons

The scope of the project is not made clear. The project management systems they have in place fail often, and employees are expected to work around around these with no improvement plan in place. There is no set project process and when there is, timelines change without notice and scope adjustments are not made. The partners often disagree on the scope of the project and will give conflicting direction to project teams. Glad I didn't spend much time here. But now I know what red flags to look out for in future positions.
