Great colleagues in engineering but career progression almost impossible - Anonymous employee Argos Employee Review

Very little chance of career progression in the engineering teams. I've watched some of the very best developers in the industry have to fight inordinately hard for modest promotions. It seems management will only award a promotion or pay rise after seeing a job offer from another company. It doesn't help that objectives are not set properly and there is no feedback loop or adequate appraisal mechanisms.
