Promotions within the company do not appear to be merit-based but rather depend on one's ability to adhere to and recite BT's principles. This approach is particularly problematic during the recruitment process for technical roles, as interviews are conducted by non-technical team leaders, leading to suboptimal hiring decisions. Furthermore, the compensation offered by BT is significantly below market standards, to the extent that one might find better financial remuneration in positions outside the technology sector, such as retail. Additionally, the bonus scheme, which is seldom realized, fails to meet the expectations set by the company, often falling short of the promised 10%.
