Pros

The company as a whole offers amazing benefits as well as generally good places to work. The discount is good, but that depends on what you're trying to buy. The company has fantastic values focusing on not only the customer, but the employee. They emphasize getting to know the customer and having fun at your job. Every time that I have met with District or Corporate officers within my store, they have been extremely helpful. It's generally easy to get in contact with Best Buy leadership. And when you email someone from Corporate, or call them, they actually take the time to answer your questions and help you find new answers. The company really puts the employee in charge and encourages innovative ideas. When you offer ideas, they are listened to. They also give you great opportunities to build your resume by creating employee resource groups where you can gain insight as well as build a network of people you can trust to give you good insight beyond their meetings.

Cons

As a whole, the company has been fantastic. The downsides really come with whatever store you work in. I am a full time employee, which, to me, means at least 40 hours a week. I am lucky that they give me 32. I guess that depends on the store and how its staffed and how well it's doing, but I do know that Best Buy is only required to give full timers a minimum of 32 hours. As a full time employee, I find that unsatisfactory. Again, a lot of the 'downsides' will depend on what store you work in. My store focuses a lot on numbers, which, as a retailer, isn't bad, except that we do more paperwork to fix that rather than getting customer insight as to what we could do better. But, as a whole, Best Buy doesn't have any major downfalls.

If you start out on registers up front it can be difficult to learn on the floor and find a department especially if you are not selling enough credit cards and memberships

-It's a job that is available in most locations.

Cons

-The company, on a corporate level, doesn't seem to grasp the value of the talent they have. - Close ties with Citibank subvert the importance of product knowledge, customer service, and revenue for credit card sales. - Daily Performance check-ins are overbearing and myopic. - Tends to burnout motivated employees with false carrots and hollow promises. - Pay's terrible, and rides the line of predatory at times.
