Pros

The good lessons regarding work ethic and self motivation through trials are immeasurable for my future. You develop a keen observation eye for your clientele and how to communicate more effectively to bring joy to kids and solve the pressing issue of gifts for parents and other relatives for the young loved ones.

Cons

The pay was all sales commissions based, so unless you were called in last minute for an emergency replacement, which made you eligible for a fixed salary for that shift regardless of your sales, your less successful days were memorable.

Pros

Super work/life balance. Even with ambitious goals and expectations, this is best work/life balance I've ever had. Company mission and purpose is something you can be proud of! Makes it easier to work hard when you know your efforts are helping small, mom-and-pop business owners and community banks/credit unions (instead of the evil megabanks!). Empowerment. If you show initiative and competency, you're giving room to spread your wings and make an impact. Momentum. A year ago the company was in a different state. Kudos for recognizing this and putting serious energy and sincere dedication to turn around both the process/work issues and the culture issues. Location! Steps from great Green Belt access. (Sweet!) Plenty of lunch/happy hour options nearby. And downtown is a quick jaunt when heading there.

Cons

Amenities aren't great. Were the desks found in a yard sale? While I like (and prefer) the bulk of money invested in other areas with legit ROI, a bit more could be done to spruce up the physical environment we spend so much time in. Equipment. Not exactly top of the line equipment. Legacy issues. There were a lot of problems a year+ ago that still wreak havoc with our processes. Though....actually, this is more of a pro now, now that I think about it. It's pretty awesome seeing the progress and being part of righting the ship in visible, tangible ways.
