Pros

Reliable income, meet different people. Learn various lending tools and interest generating vehicles. Good entry level into the financial world. Brand recognition.

Cons

Unrealistic sales goals, tenured employees with established client base have same targets as new empployees. Employees not promoted or recognized based on excellent customer service recognition is based on managed money who can sell more. Sketchy management encouraging employees to put clients in the wrong type of investment to help branch with revenue. Pay is the lowest out of all retail banks. Prospective calls to clients have already been harassed by telephone banking and do not want to have a conversation. The laying off of employees who service clients creating advisors to do sales and servicing., Charging full service fees for clients but telling them to do everything online or via mobile. Financial Service Representatitves are expected to attract clients for mortgages but are not allowed to even give competitive rates because that decreases revenue. Unesecured lending is almost impossiblly unattractive for new clients because rates are ridiculously high since they have no products with CIBC to begin with.
