Pros

A helpful introduction to the field of social services, connecting with state offices, and building client relationships. Some of the coworkers were genuinely sweet and great to talk to. While not often, my conversations with the clients were my favorite, and it felt nice to be acquainted with a lot of them. Benefits weren't terrible considering it was PT.

Cons

While my coworkers have been supportive and diligent with their work, I genuinely question the overall attitude the staff have on the clients they're working with, and the culture of the company in general. Staff are continuously late and unreliable in terms of time, important documents have either not been sent, have errors, or are delayed, and just an overall negative perspective on the population they're working for (which one staff member has blatantly made clear to one of the supervisors). I feel like staff have gotten away with a lot of concerning behavior. Also, for a position where I'm emphasized my importance, I genuinely don't feel like it. Even the times when my work comes in handy, I don't feel like I'm as important or needed. Not to mention how lost I was, and how confusing it can be on what I'm supposed to do when the only chance I have is to take extra hours. There's also an interesting disconnect between supervisors and staff, where the supervisors care more than the staff. Turnover is noticeably high; in only three months, there were vacancies in multiple shifts and people would be repeatedly asked to cover them. There also seems to be a low opportunity for growth or raises; at most, maybe two extra dollars to starting pay.

Pros

My experience with Community Housing Innovations has been extremely positive. Management is both supportive and understanding, fostering a work environment where employees can thrive. As long as you remain proactive with your responsibilities—including managing tasks, emails, and voicemails—you can work independently and without unnecessary pressure. Strong time management is essential, especially as additional responsibilities are gradually introduced. However, these become routine over time and are manageable. CHI offers excellent benefits, including paid time off (PTO), personal days, sick leave, and more. Additionally, they have invested in my professional development by covering the costs of job-related training programs.

Cons

Based on my experience, I encountered very few drawbacks while working at Community Housing Innovations. However, if I were to note one area for improvement, it would be the limited flexibility regarding remote work, as only one remote day per week was permitted.
