Pros
Coworkers are nice, good people, for the most part. Some days can be fun. If you like organizing stuff and there's actually enough people in your department for you to have the time to do that, I find that time flies by.
Cons
Pay sucks. Physically demanding. Understaffed, so they expect you to do the work of 2-3 people. Very few hours because they're constantly "over budget" for labor... aka, the CEO cares more about her multi-million dollar bonus than giving the store enough hours to function. Lots of young adults who don't want to work that hard, so if you're a hard worker, you'll most likely be picking up their slack. And you'll want to do that if you're a closer, otherwise managers won't let you leave until 1.5-2 hours after close. No one gets to leave until the whole store is "acceptable." Good luck if you're in Apparel. No one wants to help that department. ZERO schedule consistency, unless you limit your availability which is risky considering the already limited hours. Absolutely no consideration for giving employees a healthy work/life balance - why is there ANYONE doing back-to-back close/open shifts while there are other employees who have 4-6 days off in a row?? Hardly enough time (if possible at all, depending on when they let you leave) to eat dinner and get 8 hours of sleep when that happens.
