Pros

There were good people in Dius, who have now left in last few years due to the partial culture, poor management and HR. Company is in a complete disaster right now, not sure where they are all headed

Cons

Most projects are in legacy technologies and involve unstructured work and support tasks. The technology landscape is very outdated There appears to be favoritism, with only a select few employees given opportunities to work on modern tech stacks and gain valuable experience. Not everyone has an equal chance. Over the last two years, the company has struggled financially, resulting in redundancies and cost-cutting measures. This has negatively impacted project quality and outcomes. Engineering management could be improved. There seems to be a mismatch between employee skills/interests and project assignments, which are often arbitrary. Managers do not appear to carefully consider who is best suited for each role. Layoffs and terminations occur abruptly, without clear explanations provided to those impacted. Simultaneously, a privileged subset receives promotions and raises, creating resentment. The culture could benefit from more transparency, equitable opportunities for growth, and management that deeply understands and advocates for their team members' development.

Thanks for your feedback. We take pride in having talented people work for DiUS, and naturally people move on (average turnover rate in professional services / tech industry is approx 13% and DiUS' voluntary attrition is 11%) however we continue to have an extraordinarily strong workforce that continues to deliver excellent results for our clients. Like most companies, we look toward market trends for our industry and work, and adjust our strategy accordingly. We know where we're headed, and are working through the normal change management processes to get all of our employees on the same page. With emerging technologies like GenAI and intelligent products becoming exceedingly popular in the last 12 months, clients are gravitating towards enabling their products with this technology which usually means updating their systems. DiUS is about helping clients solve challenging problems, and our focus is therefore on driving meaningful impact and change - sometimes, the start of this journey with clients is helping them update legacy systems or outdated technology. This is the world of consulting and it’s an exciting change to be part of. It’s not always sexy, but it is meaningful. We do find people who are true consultants enjoy this, versus developers who just want to play with cool tech. We have a very rigorous process for matching consultants to work, which involves our leadership team as well as our sales team, and also factors in consultant availability and consultant growth. It's naive to assume that the best person for an assignment will get it - especially if that person is already committed to a client project. The comments regarding redundancies negatively impacting clients are not true, nor are the comments regarding terminations occurring abruptly without clear explanations. The way we manage these conversations is private and confidential for those impacted only, and we take great pains to manage difficult conversations with respect and dignity. We also provide after care and support to anyone that leaves DiUS as a result of either performance management or redundancy. We have an extremely transparent culture and openly communicate all decisions that are made, and take the time to connect and check-in with our employees regularly - this is a standout comment we receive in all of our anonymous employee feedback surveys. We continue to receive high engagement scores, and as a testament to this, we have been placed as #7 in the 2024 Great Place To Work in Technology listing. We have also featured in the top 20 for Great Place To Work over the last 3 years.

Pros

- DiUS was a great place to work, with a fantastic culture of genuine, down-to-earth engineers and management who want to do interesting work; - This has created a environment where curiosity is encouraged and people have an opportunity to work on genuine leading edge technologies or commercialisation of solutions with their start-up ventures. - There's a wealth of experience within the firm, including developing new technologies, how to apply it to specific business challenges, and the best ways to deploy them - The CFO role was a great way to see how new technologies are changing business and how to scale tech ventures properly; the successful growth and exit of Pactflow to Smartbear is a testament to the strategic rigour DiUS can deliver.

Cons

- The pace of change can be fast - staff need to be comfortable with some ambiguity and pivoting when circumstances shift; - The business is exposed to the ups and downs of the tech cycle - which has obviously been a greater theme in Australia over the last few years. In some instances there were quieter periods where work was slower or rightsizing was needed. Management do their best to manage the impacts of this with transparency,

Pros

I've been working here at DiUS for over 7 years now, and can say that it has been my favourite place to work so far in my career. Even though there has been some hard times in the last few years, the people and managers that work here are very supportive. It's hard to find a company that really cares, and that's always been my experience at DiUS - everyone is very nice, people listen and care about what I have to say, everyone just wants to do a good job and make the clients happy. Management are pretty good at being transparent with what is happening in the market and how it impacts our clients and our work, and we have regular All Hands meetings where we can hear business and strategy updates, and ask questions. We have started working more in the client's office this year, up to 3 days a week if we have a team in Sydney. We also have the option to work from the shared sydney office, which has a good vibe, but sometimes you don't have a desk so need to plan when to work there. There has always been a strong focus on new tech, and it's all about AI now. We get a chance to upskill internally, and have a lot of new projects that use or build AI for clients, which is pretty cool.

Cons

The social side has changed since covid, and it's harder for people to come together in the same place now as we are all spread out working with clients or at home. And we have so many new people that have joined the sydney team in the last year, it's hard to get to know them when we're all busy at clients. Sometimes the work we do with clients is more about helping them fill a skills gap instead of developing a product or solution. You need to be a self starter or you might get left behind - the company expects everyone to invest some personal time in learning and upskilling.
