Pros
The culture at the individual contributor and mid-level management is great. Pay is relatively competitive. The core product is interesting.
Cons
Constant re-invention to mold the product into what the “aerospace company of the week” wants rather than focusing on maturing core competencies based on feedback from real customers. In my time at DUST we churned through four product executives, each leaving in frustration with the ELT for the same reasons. The cofounders come from academia and have advanced degrees, and seem to have a “need” to be the smartest in the room. Even when the entire engineering org in in agreement about a technical decision and is aligned with product, the CEO and CTO will override in favor of some idealistic high-risk engagement that only peripherally relates to the core product. When I joined, there was decent diversity for a tech company. That’s long gone.
