Pros

Sweet office in Austin, TX

Cons

I would strongly encourage candidates to do their due diligence before accepting an offer. Ask direct questions about layoffs, offshoring, leadership strategy, and whether the role is likely to remain in the same location long term. Based on my experience, there can be a significant gap between how the opportunity is presented during recruiting and the reality after joining.

Pros

Wage is good. Benefits are good.

Cons

They lay people off with no explanation, rhyme or reason. They laid off many people last quarter and said only that is was a “business decision” and provided no scope or reasoning. Many of these people were VERY loyal. Very hard working. Very good at their jobs. It felt random and painful for everyone. Then they went and bought everyone left a bunch of swag like blankets and mugs and phone chargers like we would just blow it off. They spent all this money on stupid crap rather than just keep the people they had. Some people took the bus every day. Some people had been there for years. It makes those of us left live in fear of next time and what will happen to us despite hitting all our goals and giving up free time with our families, giving up working from home, having to make adjustments because remote work is no longer an option unless you were hired out of state. But the out of state people didn’t get laid off. No rhyme or reason just “it was a business decision.”
