Yearly raises overshadowed by favoritism in management - Registered Nurse, BSN Fairview Health Services Employee Review

Pros

Pay and raises on yearly basis.

Cons

Management shows favoritism and wants to take the road of “least resistance.” Management doesn’t really want to problem solve unless it doesn’t involve work for them or benefits them directly.

Pros

Very good information about Fairview during my New Employee Welcome Meeting. I loved how we discussed the values of the company and how as a team we can make those happen. Kurstin makes things super fun, light, enjoyable, and engaging! Overall, a super positive experience during my orientation!

Cons

None, I only had positives!

Pros

Really great benefits and starting pay and some really great colleagues who are really dedicated to patient care. Really good off-site instructors.

Cons

Was hired with the understanding I would have thorough training as it was somewhat of an entry-level job for me. My first day on the job I was told my trainer had just started a 6-week leave so there would be NO ONE working with me to oversee my training. Even though M Health Fairview is a very large organization, there was NO BACK-UP PLAN for my on-desk/on-site training. The off-site computer lab training was thorough, and the instructors were great, but it was hard to apply what I learned once back at the job site as I had to rely on my coworkers to train me at what was often a very busy desk with lines of people throughout the day. It is hard to learn what someone is doing when everything is really fast and hectic and they don't really have time to explain the processes as they were executing them. When I admitted I was struggling and not learning the EMR/EHR system and processes as quickly as I should be, and if it was possible to transfer to a different location where I would have access to an actual trainer. I was told no, and that transfers were not allowed in the first 6 months of employment. No exceptions even when there are unusual circumstances such as mine. After about 6-7 weeks of this, and feeling like I wasn’t making the progress I should have been, I quit.
