Pros

No micro managing, if you do your job correctly there are very few times you will ever hear more than hello from a manager. I meet lots of new people via my route. Great benefits and starting pay (even thou Arkansas is one of the lowest paying fedex states). A non desk job that doesn't break yout back, it is fast paced on most routes but not labor intensive. The extra perks rock, discounts on plane tickets, computers, vacations and more. I never have to take my work home with me and I know I have job security. I know i have the oppurtunity fot advancement and most managers start at 65k plus a year. Final pro is in another 5 years I'll be making 55-60k a year via 40-43 hour work weeks. I will stay with fedex for 20 plus years.

Cons

Stations vary across the country from what I'm told but I have found that little to no information is given to you about benefits etc. unless you get them yourself. Seniority gets you what you want, new comers are bottom of the food chain unless you really shine. It is very very hard to get full time status when you start. This will usually take 7-9 months unless your lucky. Another con is that arkansas has some of the lowest paid couriers in the country, Texas which is only a state or 2 away usually pays $4-6 more an hour for the same positions regardless of cost of living.

Pros

Easy to apply, fast to get hired (no interview process) and the pay

Cons

Very rude management, lack of care for safety, no drinkable water (all filters are in the red and have been since I started) They have cameras everywhere and are constantly watching you but say you can’t bring your own phone in because “people steal them”? There is junk everywhere. Lots of trash everywhere (employees drinks and food). They want you to work and eat on the line instead of giving you breaks to do so. They get upset when you use the bathroom or fill your water bottle even if you’ve been working for 3 hours straight but if you clock in at an area 2 min walking distance from your work area you’re “stealing time” I’ve noticed people of color get treated differently. The HR department has some of the most prejudice employees so there’s no real equality if you have conflict with someone. I’ve never been, but it feels like a prison to go in and out of the building and lastly you don’t work a consistent schedule. You leave when they say you can.
