Pros
Benefits: the medical benefits can't be beaten for part-timers. They offer health, dental, and vision. They also give one vacation day per month and holiday pay after a year.
Cons
This might be the worst job I've ever had. I worked at the Atlanta Hub in 2007 over the summer and had to leave due to school issues. The experience was great and I looked forward to returning. Upon my return in the summer of 2008, I regret leaving my other bad job for this worse one. Management lost all competence and compassion for the entry level workers. We do these crappy jobs so you dont have to. There is no job security. I was in danger of being fired because i needed to go to the doctor's. Breathing in obscene amounts of dust and exhaust can't be healthy especially when i see it in my phlegm. We were given new equipment to better track packages at the cost of speed. Loading takes a lot longer while they decided to GREATLY increase the volume of packages shipped. It is nearly impossible to keep up especially around peak seasons. There is no job security outside of management. I asked for time off, all done through proper procedure, for the holidays and to take final exams. I was denied both times and was denied a valid reason other than, "You are a good loader and we can't just let you take time off." It was said with a smile and I guess I missed the joke. They also denied me tuition reimbursement because I earned my scholarship before I sent in the paperwork. I still paid the full price the semester before which is the one I filed for. They have reduced the maximum amount of hours an employee can accumulate. By doing so we lose about a third of our entire staff, who have to lift a finger, on Fridays. If you are looking for a job here other than management, do yourself a favor and avoid FedEx Ground.
