Pros

flexible working WFH options Not much more to say about pros

Cons

the management is clueless with which products the firm should prioritise in. At some point, it had plans to become an end-to-end platform for all the buy-side community which is way too ambitious for a firm with 200 employees. The firm is going through redundancies so it is not very stable financially. It claims that there are catchups with managers and the firm is very transparent with the employees but its certainly not the case. many people experience multiple manager changes in a very short time. there is a lack of planning and teams are praised for firefighting skills rather than planning ahead.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts as we genuinely value feedback, especially when it challenges us to be better. We’re sorry to hear that your experience at FINBOURNE didn’t reflect what we aim to provide as a company. Our recent redundancies were extremely tough decisions, made with the long-term stability and sustainability of the business in mind. We know this has been unsettling and has affected the day-to-day experience of many people and we’re truly sorry for that. We’ll take your points around prioritisation, planning and transparency onboard. As a scaling business, our ambition has sometimes outpaced our structure and that’s something we’re actively addressing. We’re taking steps to strengthen leadership across teams, sharpen our product focus, and bring more operational discipline into how we plan and deliver. None of this happens overnight but we are committed to improving. We remain proud of our people, the technology we’re building and we’re committed to creating a more stable, focused, and transparent environment going forward. HR Team

Pros

Some smart colleagues Product fundamentally sound but incredibly complex and not ready for deployment

Cons

Uninspiring, mercurial leadership with a bit of an ivory tower mentality. No clear ICP has been identified. As a result sales will make bold promises, which are not easy to deliver. Very few live clients. No clearly defined product roadmap. Product leadership will ultimately be undone by their sheer arrogance. Lack of transparency - most startups have monthly/quarterly town halls. Finbourne would schedule them and then cancel last minute.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and we appreciate the candid reflections. Some of the challenges you’ve highlighted including the need for greater transparency, clarity around our product roadmap and more structured communication are not lost on us. These are areas we are actively working to improve. While we remain confident in our core technology and the talent of our team, we also acknowledge that scaling a business from start-up to growth stage requires change in how we operate, how we lead, and how we communicate. It's work in progress but the goal is to build not just great technology, but a sustainable business that is built to last. HR Team

Pros

Hard working, knowledgeable engineers being driven insane by work hours and a bad product

Cons

The product doesn't work, and leadership is not taking care to ensure that everything is tested before go-lives, or that there is enough staff to support a growing number of angrier and angrier clients.

We're sorry to hear that this was your experience and we appreciate you taking the time to share it, even when it's difficult to read. We’re proud of the dedication and talent of our engineering team and understand how demanding the past period has been. The pressure on teams, especially during times of rapid growth and change has at time been challenging and in hindsight, there are things we could have done better to ease that burden and support our people more effectively. You've raised valid concerns around resourcing, testing, and go-live readiness. As our client base has grown, we've at times found ourselves stretched and we know that’s not sustainable. We’re actively investing in strengthening our engineering capacity, improving internal processes and ensuring that quality and scalability remain front and centre as we continue to grow. We're not where we want to be yet, but we are taking measured steps to reduce fire-fighting, build in more forward planning and support a healthier work-life balance for our teams. HR Team
