My company was acquired by Future. I was excited at first, looking forward to be welcomed to a new environment, but from the start the vibe was weirdly hostile, and mistrustful. We quickly felt like they wanted us to know that we were to play by their rules now - no adjustments would be made from our culture or working practices. These were to be forgotten. Even at the official induction they started to demand we learn and recite their slogans. It was bizarre, we felt like enemy combatants or citizens of an occupied territory being forcibly indoctrinated into the new regime’s ways. It was so depressing, seeing all the individuality and stuff that made work fun and rewarding being sucked out and replaced by a bland corporate one size fits all identity. What people say is true: it’s all about the short term profits. Nothing else matters. Staff are just numbers, lumps of meat to feed the beast -as one reviewer put it. I lasted a few months. I had years experience but no one cared when I left. It’s always the same - if you are going, just go. We don’t care.
